Running With a Purpose.

My Running

I run on purpose.

However lately it seems like running has fallen by the wayside. Running seems a bit hard and if you know me at all…you know I’m a scaredy cat and my threshold for pain is NIL. I am an instant gratification kind of girl. I want one run to build upon the one before without any work! I want easy!!

I have a fellow runner who I aspire to be like; Dedicated. Determined. Fast.

And he’s come onto my path for a few weeks. I have not run with him because he’s too fast and I’m too slow and running with me would be boring for him. He might want to have a conversation, and I would want to…well….breathe. He would end up talking to himself, with me saying “yeah. No. Uh huh. Yep. Oh. Ha. No. Sure. Yeah. “.

It’s almost as if he has put a spark to the pilot light that has always been there burning for running. Because the love for it hasn’t gone away. But the confidence in it has. I know I’m getting stronger because I have been going to boot camp consistently for six weeks now….and I can see some progress in my workouts. So I know….I know…. my legs are stronger than they were six weeks ago, that’s for sure. But if I want to be a better and faster runner–then I need to run. My friend told me I need to put the time into running, if that is what I want to get better at.

How come people can say the simplest things and they affect me so profoundly????

Put the time into running if that is what I want to get better at….okay. So simple. So spot on.

So….I run on purpose. And now will have to start running with purpose. To get better. Not to be the best. But just to get better.
